Start Up Partnerships Between Church Army In Australia & Your Parish

There ain’t no silver bullets…

Think back over the last 15 to 20 years. How many church growth models and programmes have you seen come and go?

Models and programmes that promised the world yet, at best, may have only delivered a suburban backyard!

Our goal at Church Army is to see the development of local churches and congregations that consistently and effectively proclaim the gospel and see lives transformed through the power of Jesus Christ

For over 70 years Church Army has been working with churches across Australia to help them proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Church Army, via its Church Partnerships Unit, can assist your church through the introduction into the local church of an innovative process called Natural Church Development (NCD).

The NCD process helps your church achieve a greater level of health and ultimately, under God, grow in quality and quantity.

NCD is also a long term strategic process for progressively improving a church's health. It is a process of continual improvement, not a programme which guarantees "a healthy church" if implemented to the letter.

NCD is a paradigm – a way of thinking about church growth. Growth should be about quality (health) and not just quantity (numbers).

In fact NCD suggests that quality should take priority over quantity in church growth thinking.

At the heart of the paradigm is the Scriptural picture of the church as a living organism, not just an organisation (albeit a spiritual one). Looking at the church "organically" gives us a different perspective on what "growth" means.

The growth of organisms focuses on their health, their capacity to reproduce, and how the individual 'body' parts interact.

The Base Support Offer - First 12 month quality cycle

So what is the value of an NCD start up partnership with Church Army?

The success of any partnership is relationship and that’s what Church Army is really offering. Our Parish Support Coordinator would provide the Rector and Parish with support, consultation and facilitation services during the course of the partnership.

This support will involve facilitation of workshops and regular consultation with the Rector / leadership team.

In all there will be approximately 3 full days of a Church Army Facilitator’s time devoted to the Parish in the first 12 months.

Months 1 & 2

• Presentation of NCD process to Rector & Parish Council by Church Army Facilitator  (1 hour)

• Phone Consultation with Rector as to selection of survey(s) participants

• Administration of Survey (1 hour)

• Pre Analysis Workshop Meeting with Rector with Church Army Facilitator (1.5 hours)

• Workshop to analyse Survey Results with Church Army Facilitator (2 hours)

• Initial SWAT Team Meeting with Church Army Facilitator (2 hours)

Months 3 – 10

• Phone Consultations with Rector and Church Army Facilitator

• Implementation Workshop with Church Army Facilitator (1.5 hours)

• 2 x Monitoring meetings with Church Army Facilitator (1.5 hours each)

To provide the NCD Start Up Support the cost for the initial 12 months would be $990 paid in 3 equal instalments. This cost includes the survey questionnaires and processing and all travel costs.

Please note the above support offer is to assist churches to commence the NCD processes. Any additional support or work by Church Army with a church is separate from this NCD Start Up Proposal.
