CHURCH ARMY MISSION SUNDAY

Church Army Mission Sunday - Celebrate with us!

Let me share a story with you:

When Jesus ascended to heaven after his mission on earth, the angels asked him: “Did you accomplish your task?” “Yes, all is finished,” the Lord replied. “We have a second question,” said the angels. “Has the whole world heard of you?” “No,” said Jesus. The angels next asked, “Then what is your plan?” Jesus said, “I have left twelve men and some other followers to carry the message to the whole world.” The angels looked at him and asked: “What is your Plan B?”

There is no plan B! You and I baby! We were made for Mission!

I am convinced that God wants to reconcile lost people to himself through Christ. You and I and the churches we represent have the privilege and responsibility to join in his mission. “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” “God is a fountain of sending love!” Let it flow! Let it flow!

The spirit of those Church Army Pioneers who came from England all those years ago still lives on. Theseare exciting days when God is bringing his church back to her missionary roots.

The idea of Church Army Mission Sunday is to not just talk about mission but to do mission

Many things have changed since Church Army was established in Australia in 1934. A letter from our founder, Capt. John Cowland, describes Church Army’s mission work and issues an appeal “It has its Pioneer Officers for breaking up new ground and tackling what seem to be impossible jobs…We have the men! We want the money! Trust your gifts to a Society whose usefulness has been proved, and has learned the lessons of economy in the stern School of Experience”

That appeal resulted in the founding of Church Army Australia on August 4, 1934.

The way we communicate our needs may have changed but we believe the essence of Capt. Cowland’s challenge still has relevance. We still need your support as we move boldly into a new era of pioneering work.

How about it? Let it flow! Let it flow!
