STORIES OF LOCAL MISSION

CHURCH ARMY MISSION SUNDAY

Kihilla is a gracious, historic home set on 10 Hectares in the heart of the beautiful Blue Mountains that is now home to Church Army Australia.

Kihilla was named in the 1880's from a Hebrew word meaning congregation or brotherhood.  In keeping with it's name, Kihilla has become a community where holistic ministry and formation occurs.

Three significant Church Army initiatives operate from Kihilla, namely: (1) Lawson’s Local Mission Base; (2) the Restoration program for men recovering from alcohol and drug addiction; and (3) the Global GAP Year, along with other training initiatives.  It’s therefore a place where mountain residents, those in recovery and students of all ages can hear about Jesus, find healing in his name and learn about being a missionary in 21st Century Australia.

Church Army also uses Kihilla for important conferences and events and our national office staff are based here.

As a Church Army facility, Kihilla no longer operates as a Christian conference centre. Consequently, NO private bookings for camps or conferences will be accepted.

Visiting Us

Kihilla is situated between Hazelbrook and Lawson townships in the mid Blue Mountains, about 37km west of Penrith.

By car, simply follow the Great Western Highway from Sydney. Climb the hill out of Hazelbrook and immediately after the sign for Lawson township, turn right into Queens Rd.

Follow this for about 200 meters, just past the Kangeroo St. intersection turn right into the Kihilla car park.

Kihilla is also accessible by train, in walking distance from either Hazelbrook or Lawson Stations.  Trains on the Blue Mountains line depart Central Station, with stops at major hubs like Strathfield, Parramatta, Blacktown and Penrith.  The journey from Central is 90 minutes each way.  Kihilla is only a 20 minute walk from Hazelbrook Station.  A return fare costs approximately $25.  Timetable information on the Blue Mountains Line is available from the City Rail website.

There are Great Opportunities, but we need Your Help!

Kihilla has twelve bedrooms for accommodation. Only three rooms have been renovated with fresh paint, fly screens and some
new carpeting.

Will you consider helping the Restoration guy’s finish another bedroom before winter?
