About Us

OUR MISSION:

To send and support evangelists called to reach people beyond existing churches across Australia with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Endorsed Evangelists are men and women who have been identified as faithfully and  persuasively presenting the truth of Jesus to people who are not already Christians. We have endorsed them in their ministry of evangelism so we can send, support and equip them.

Our objective is to Reach Beyond  those people in existing churches. Our Endorsed Evangelists are working all over Australia in many different contexts to reach people with the transforming hope found in trusting Jesus. Some of our endorsed members are chaplains in schools or institutions, some are church planters, some have specialist ministries like Youth Work or drug and alcohol counselling. Some work with other organisations and denominations. Some raise their own support. We have very strong links with the Anglican denomination, but we also work with other organisations and denominations in faithful and effective evangelism.

OUR BACKGROUND

The Church Army story originally began in London, England in 1882. An Anglican Minister, Wison Carlile started the  Church Army to reach out to those people that were not effectively being reached with the Gospel of Jesus by existing Churches. He was committed to winning people that were often overlooked by the churches; the “least, the last and the lost”. Church Army Australia has been active since 1932, when their first Evangelist, John Cowland started to reach the people of Australia with the message of Jesus. We have a strong Anglican heritage, but work with many denominational groups. Church Army has been used by God to present the Christian Gospel to many thousands of people and allow them to start trusting and following Jesus Christ.

INTERNATIONAL
